True thankfulness is not dependent on things, but on a person. It is not dependent on changing circumstances, but the eternal, unchanging nature of God. He is always good, always true, always all-powerful, always all-knowing, always wise, always loving. Our thankfulness rests in Him, not in his good gifts. But never doubt, even when all seems disrupted and uncertain, that He remains the giver of good gifts. This Thanksgiving , count his many attributes and count his many blessings to you (yes, even of this year). Even in the middle of thanksgiving, we remember that our world is still broken and in need of healing, so, while giving thanks, give to Him the sorrows that burden your heart. He cares for you.
