As Christmas morning dawns, may we find our hearts yearning more for Christ than for presents, more focused on God’s love than decorating a tree, more hungry after His Word than all the wonderful food on the table before us. How wonderful that the God of the universe should step down in time. The eternal God to a temporal world. The Holy One to a dirty and vile people. Love to the loveless. So that we should be called children and friends of God.
Today’s songs are reminders to seek the manger ground and rejoice that Emmanuel — God with us — came.
